Please email the council planning committee
« on: May 27, 2011, 08:59:33 AM »
The planning proposals for the new trail developments are being concidered at the moment. I know that the council have recieved positive and negative letters about the application.

It would be good if we could send in as many positive emails as we could supporting the developments;

email : planning@swansea.gov.uk and quote Planning Application 2011/0566

Please try and get as many people (especially those in positions of resposibility within the coummunity) as you can to write in support

Some of the postitives that should be mentioned are;
  • will encourage tourism to the area
  • positve involvment of local community
  • positive effects on local youth
  • sustainability of trails
  • the consideration of other users in the overall plan - walkers & equestrians
  • considerations of environmentally sesitive areas

here is a postive email that has been sent

"Dear Sirs

Could I fully endorse the mountain biking that is happening in Clyne Valley.
It is a pleasure to see the country side being responsibly used by both young
and older citizens of Swansea and its surrounding area.  This provides an
opportunities for physical exercise outdoors, meeting many of WAG's targets,
and provides a much needed local venue for young people to develop physical
skills and social development when undertaken in groups.

I would advocate the construction of a single track course/s, as this would bring in much needed
tourism to Swansea, a venue for youth workers to take disaffected young adults, outdoor
centres to diverse their range of activities and complement the activities Swansea offers
it residents and visitors alike.

I live at ... Gower Road and regally use the cycle track to access the city centre and mumbles,
I am always impressed with the valley and the way it is responsibly used and maintained.

If I can help with any feasibility studies or advise in any capacity please just ask.

Many regards

My little essay went off in the wee small hours last night.  8)

Get writing folks. Believe me, whilst the councillors may not read every one, they do take note of numbers! And it really CAN effect the outcome.

Sent mine too, it was short and to the point, just like me.
A Gentleman in the mountains, no matter what his means of access, should be appropriately attired at all times, specifically in a manner which befits his modesty and public decency.

I've had an acknowledgment letter back from the council already.

Yeah they surprised me how quick they were. Mine arrived before I'd even got to work!

As a local resident I have sent a note.
Thanks for the ride on Thursday, despite losing my way with Gaz from Cardigan!

Cheers Kev that's marvelous! Part of the Clyne initiation is getting lost and popping out the opposite side of the woods to where you live!  :-[  ::)
